Floor Installation At RMI Floors we know that preparation is the key to every successful floor installation. We do the job properly today, so you do not have problems tomorrow. Solid hardwood can be installed over concrete. First we lay a thick mil poly vapour barrier that is taped and sealed around the room.
Floor Installation For hardwood strip flooring on concrete surfaces we need to install an exterior grade plywood subfloor to accept the staples. It is critical that the floor be prepared properly, sealed with vapour barrier and nailed securely to the concrete. Here we use a Hilti Gun to solidly fasten the the plywood to the prepared concrete surface, using specialized powder actuated fasteners.
Floor Installation Here we use a pneumatic power stapler to shoot 1.5 inch staples into the groove of the hardwood stip. This eliminates the need for any surface nailing.
Floor Installation At RMI Floors we pride ourselves in our ability to install a beautiful floor in difficult situations. On this job the floor surface was off level by almost two inches.
Floor Installation The old subfloor had peaks where the plywood panels met. The subfloor was not properly secured to the joists
Floor Installation To repair this subfloor we first secured the floor to the joists with over 600 screws. We then belt sanded the peaks flat and filled any gaps.
Floor Installation To further prepare the floor we flooded the areas that were not level with light-weight floor leveling compound. This shows the first of several pours.
Floor Installation We then ad a layer of underlay over the vapour barrier. Preparation of the floor is the key to proper installation.
Floor Installation Even while we are working on your site we keep the jobsite clean and organized. If you and your family are living in the house during a renovation you will appreciate the care we take to keep your home liveable
Floor Installation We pay special attention to the difficult areas around doors and entranceways. Due to weather conditions in the Vancouver area, we make certain that these areas are properly sealed to protect against any opportunity for water damage to your new floor.
